Memorial Day 2018/National Day of Remembrance

On Sunday 11th November 2018 Trinidad and Tobago payed homage to all Members of the Armed Forces who died in the line of duty during World wars I and II at its Memorial Day celebrations at Memorial Park,Port of Spain. This was the 100-year anniversary of the annual celebration.His Worship the Mayor of the City of Port of Spain, Alderman Joel Martinez,paid tribute to the fallen veterans. His Worship was accompanied by the First Lady of Port of Spain, Mrs. Marcelle Martinez and their daughter, Danielle Martinez.

The President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Her Excellency Paula Mae Weeks, Prime Minister Dr. The Honourable Keith Rowely and the Honourable Chief justice (Ag.), Justice Allan Mendoca were among those who paid their respects.Ambassadors of other countries laid wreathes at the base of the Centoaph in full view of Trinidad and Tobago’s military parade.The parade included members of both the armed and unarmed forces. A gun salute and two minutes of silence were also observed by all present as the nation gave thanks to the men and women who sacrificed in uniform for the peace we share.
